Rossini's Il barbieri di Siviglia (Barber of Seville) is a vivacious romp that kicks off with an instantly recognizable overture, gains speed with a non-stop parade of hit tunes, and concludes with an "all is forgiven" finale bubbling over with joy. This classic "opera buffa" is a delightful farce filled with high-flying vocal fireworks and gorgeous melodies.  Rosina is a wealthy orphan and the ward of a grasping old codger, Dr. Bartolo, who is plotting to marry her not only for her beauty but also for her substantial dowry.  Count Almaviva is a handsome and wealthy man who needs a little help with the ladies.  That's where the intrepid Barber of Seville, Figaro comes in.  Against all odds, his quick wit and clever schemes unite Rosina with her true love. The Barber of Seville is a fast, furious comedy and the ultimate feel-good night at the theatre.
